Start off Spring 2021 creating and printmaking with me in this all new online workshop!
We will be learning the art of cameraless photography creating one of a kind cyanotypes !
The cyanotype process was discovered by Sir John Herschel in 1842 using photo sensitized paper and UV light, but it was a family friend Anna Atkins that was the first to use them in a series of published books cataloging her magical prussian blue botanical imagery beginning in 1843.
We will learn the timeless process that Anna Atkins used ,and then expand on that to create completely modern artful cyanotypes exploring the additions of texture and color to the images in fun ways . You are sure to make fun exciting discoveries all throughout this process creating completely one of a kind art prints that are truly like magic every time they are developed !
This workshop will take you through
• how to get started with cyanotypes including full supply list AND resource list
•LOTS of fun process and technique building projects and video step by step instruction
•Bump up that magic with fun additives to create texture and MORE color !
•Helpful tips to take the guess work out and help you achieve the best results.
•Facebook group available to share imagery and progress (completely optional)
These prints can be given an encaustic or cold wax finish !
This workshop begins May 24, 2021. Early bird registration open now.
If this is your very first time joining me for an online workshop here is a bit on how they go:
• All of the workshops are self paced so that you can create on your own schedule.
•Larger workshops I break up into a few sections when it first launches so that I am able to keep track and answer questions from a large group at once and it is much easier if we are all discussing the same projects and subject matter , and everyone in the FB group is discussing the same projects at the same time (less confusion ) . This usually means I launch a section at a time on Monday mornings for 3-6 weeks. There is plenty of content and projects in each section to keep you busily creating all week :)))
• All of the workshops have no time limits or expiration dates so that you can refer back to a certain technique or project whenever you like , for as long as you like .
•All of the workshops have classrooms with written content, photos, and step by step video instruction.
• All of the workshops are in the same location so that if you have multiple workshops from me you can easily access them all on one site :)
