'Here we are in the last week of "Texture Month" and many around the world are
a little stressed and perhaps secluded with their loved ones indoors. These are times that even when you know that creating art will help improve your mood and be a true comfort to you, sometimes the "flow" refuses to come. Perhaps we are more concerned , worried , or stressed than we realized. I myself have noticed the struggle and went through 3 different ideas for this last week of texture before I found my natural rhythm . To find my rhythm I have to be truly "in tune" with what I am doing and not what is going on around me. I have to be able to find that "freedom" from everything else before I can cease to struggle and enjoy the process of letting things happen in my painting . This is probably why art is therapeutic for many of us. But you still have to get there. I hope you enjoy this week's natural textures, and find your creative freedom this week and always :) Blessings, Shari

Supplies I used this week:
Each week I list the supplies I used in the video here on the blog for you so that you can see and easily find the items used for that week's technique . If you purchase items from the links provided it sometimes generates a few cents in commission which goes right back in to creating videos for you on the youtube channel. It does not raise the cost for you in any way, and is the same link you would find on a regular amazon prime search . Thank you ahead for you support of Wax on Wednesdays in any way ! Also , although the photos here can help you easily find the product . I also recommend that you look at your local art /hobby store to make sure you are getting the lowest price. Sometimes with weekly 40% off coupons basic items can be found at a better price. If you are receiving this blog post via email click on the live link to the post so that you can view the supply links . NOTE : the 4x4 tiles are cheaper purchased at your local home improvement store.

Happy Wax on Wednesdays !
I hope that wherever you are in the world, that you and your loved ones are safe . I wanted to continue our theme of texture this month but if you can't get out to get new supplies, or boards, etc. ,encaustic is the very best medium to create with ! ( I may be slightly biased :) Why ? Because encaustic can completely be recycled ! Not just painted over , you can do that with any medium. Encaustic can be completely reactivated and reused ! Today I am taking the 2 paintings from last week's Wax on Wednesday and using a technique I call "overfusing" to move the pigment around and create 2 completely different paintings with no added wax !
I took the scrap wood from all of the houses I made in "Encausticology Home Stories" workshop and use them to create stamps for great texture in my paintings. This week I created 3 stamps from small stones in my backyard . I sorted the natural stones into different groups according to size that would create different depths in my wax. I want to have a similar depth on each stamp to make as even impression as possible with the natural rocks.
