Hello and happy Wax on Wednesdays!
It is fun to change it up once in a while so this week mixing up my favorite color palette for cold wax painting and beginning a first layer on Arches Oil paper.
One of the exciting things about cold wax is that so many things can be mixed right in to create color! A lot of the pigments like oil paint sticks that we already have on hand for encaustic painting can be used to create a cold wax paint.
Want to dive in to an exciting cold wax painting journey ? "Cold Wax Journal Journey" is a full forever access online workshop with tons of projects to get you started on an exciting journey in cold wax painting. There are lots of fun projects approaching several styles and lots of building techniques for cold wax painting.
If you have taken workshops from me in the past you will know that I LOVE to create handmade journals to house works created on paper ! In this workshop we will create a beautiful cold wax journal to house all of the techniques and projects we have worked on in the course .
Supplies I used this week:
Each week I list the supplies I used in the video here on the blog for you so that you can see and easily find the items used for that week's technique . If you purchase items from the links provided it sometimes generates a few cents in commission which goes right back in to creating videos for you on the youtube channel. It does not raise the cost for you in any way, and is the same link you would find on a regular amazon prime search . Thank you so much! Also , although the photos here can help you easily find the product . I also recommend that you look at your local art /hobby store to make sure you are getting the lowest price. Sometimes with weekly 40% off coupons basic items can be found at a better price. If you are receiving this blog post via email click on the live link to the post so that you can view the supply links .
I created the community over on Patreon in April of last year in order to bring small workshop content, and bonus content for artists each and every week at a very low price compared to a full workshop. There are a variety of levels to choose from and you can move up and down on those levels within the community. I loved the fact that ALL content from the beginning of the channel would be available to subscribers. This means that currently there are over 50 Wax on Wednesdays with step by step process commentary + a bonus photo encaustic series on the channel to watch for just 4.99. It is also largely due to the Patron subscribers on channel that I am able to continue to be able to bring you Wax on Wednesdays each week and I am very grateful for that community . I am also there to quickly answer questions that you may have about each week's project. There are other levels to choose from that receive even more creating content each month. You can check out the details for the Patreon channel HERE and I would love to have you join me over on the channel.
Hope you enjoy this week's cold wax painting project ! xo and happy creating :) Shari
